St Gabriel’s is celebrating a landmark achievement after a team of its students won the National Cyber Security Competition, securing first place against schools and colleges from across the UK.
The competition, designed to identify and inspire the next generation of cybersecurity specialists, challenged teams with real‑world cyber scenarios including digital forensics, cryptography, network defence, and ethical hacking. St Gabriel’s team demonstrated exceptional technical skill, creativity, and teamwork throughout the multi‑stage contest.
Miss Billington, Curriculum Leader of Computing at St Gabriel’s, praised the students’ dedication:
“Our students have worked incredibly hard and shown outstanding talent in an area that is becoming more essential every year. Their achievement places them among the most promising young cyber specialists in the country, and we couldn’t be more proud.”
The winning team—made up of pupils from Years 7 to 10—performed strongly from the qualifying rounds through to the national final, where they faced timed challenges designed by industry professionals. Their success highlights the school’s growing reputation for excellence in computing and digital education.
The competition is supported by leaders across the cybersecurity sector, including government and industry partners. St Gabriel’s victory positions the school at the forefront of cyber education and demonstrates the impact of high‑quality computing teaching.
The school plans to continue building its cyber programme, with additional clubs, workshops, and partnerships aimed at developing even more young cybersecurity experts.
