Recently, the school community at St Vincent de Paul celebrated the completion of an exciting, fully funded sustainability project — a collaborative effort with United Utilities and Green Blue Urban that marks another important step in the school’s journey towards environmental stewardship.
Over the course of the week, teams from Green Blue Urban worked tirelessly — often putting in exceptionally long days — to ensure that the installation caused minimal disruption to teaching and learning. Their commitment and professionalism helped transform the school grounds, creating beautiful new garden areas and planters that will both enrich the environment and provide valuable opportunities for outdoor learning.
The project reflects the school’s deep commitment to caring for our common home, inspired by Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ call to protect the earth and its people. The Laudato Si’ Team at St Vincent de Paul will now take the lead in maintaining and developing the new spaces throughout the year, ensuring that this project continues to grow — literally and spiritually — in the months ahead.
Looking to the future, the school hopes to continue its partnership with United Utilities on another sustainability-focused playground project later in the year.
Moments like these remind us that when faith, community and action come together, wonderful things can happen — helping our children not only learn about creation care, but live it.
