The school community at St Mary’s, Littleborough is celebrating a wonderful achievement this week, as several of their Key Stage 2 pupils were recognised in a poetry competition hosted by St Bede’s. Their success is a testament to the creativity, confidence and hard work that shines through their children every day.
Pupils across KS2 were invited to craft and submit their own poems, exploring themes close to their hearts. The standard of work was exceptionally high, and Mrs Ruane and here team were delighted when six of their young writers were selected as finalists — an outstanding accomplishment in such a competitive field.
In the final round, one of the Year 6 pupils achieved an impressive second place overall for the entire competition. Her thoughtful, beautifully crafted poem captivated the judges and reflected the depth of imagination and reflection that we seek to nurture in all our learners.
Moments like these remind us of the joy that comes when children are given the opportunity to express themselves and share their gifts. We are incredibly proud of all our finalists and of the dedication shown by staff who continually encourage pupils to grow in confidence, creativity and faith.
