We’re pleased to share that our CSEL , Chris Foley, has been featured in the latest TES “My Week As…” series, where he reflects on life leading St Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Academy Trust.

In the interview, Chris talks about what a typical week looks like in his role — from setting strategic direction to nurturing relationships across our Trust, the Diocese, and the Department for Education. He explains how he begins his week with meetings of the executive leadership team and uses one-to-ones with senior leaders to focus on outcomes that really matter for our pupils.

A few of the standout themes include:

  • Growth and sustainability: Over the past two years we’ve grown from six schools to twenty-two. Chris reflects on how that expansion brings both opportunity and complexity, and how we can continue to grow in ways that preserve quality and sustainability.

  • Reflection and thinking time: Early mornings before the day begins provide the space Chris needs to think through emerging challenges and consider what strategic shifts might be needed — balancing responsiveness with thoughtful planning.

  • Tone, culture & visibility: Every interaction, whether with staff, headteachers, or pupils, Chris says contributes to the Trust’s culture. Being consistent, open and aligned in those interactions helps everyone understand not just what we do, but how and why we do it.

  • Putting feet on the ground: Chris also speaks about school visits — he currently visits our schools every Thursday. Seeing work in practice, meeting students, and experiencing first-hand how our values and policies translate into everyday life is, he says, deeply affirming.
